GENERAL INFORMATION/ELIGIBILITY
This tournament is open to all male and female contestants at least five (5) years of age on the day of the competition. All contestants must be registered members of and in good standing with the United States Judo Association (USJA), United States Judo Federation (USJF), USA Judo (USJI), ATJA or AJJF.
All contestants must present their valid USJA, USJF, ATJA or USA Judo registration card, with acceptable proof of insurance, at the time of registration. If a contestant is unable to present their valid registration card, he or she will be required to purchase a membership of one of the organizations at the tournament site. Responsibility for reimbursement of membership fees for those who have previously registered remains that of the individual.
All contestants must be familiar with the sport of Judo and the rules in connection therewith and have sufficient ability to safely compete in the tournament. Contestants, their parents (in the case of minor contestants), and their instructors have the responsibility of insuring that the contestants meet this requirement.

U.S. 101 (From the North or South)
101 to 280 North (Downtown San Jose). Exit 280 at 7th St. Turn right on 7th St. to the 7th St. garage. The Event Center is on the right.
Interstate 280 (From the North)
Exit 280 on 7th St., left 7th St. to the 7th St. garage. The Event Center is on the right.
Interstate 680 South (From the North)
680 Becomes 280 at U.S. 101. Exit 280 at 7th St. Turn right on 7th St. to the 7th St. garage. The Event Center is on the right.
Interstate 880 South (From the North)
880 to 101 South. 101 South to 280 North. Exit 280 at 7th St., right 7th St. to the 7th St. garage. The Event Center is on the right.
SJ Mineta International Airport
From terminal, make a right on Airport Blvd. Airport Blvd. To Coleman Ave. Coleman Ave. Becomes Market St. Take Market St. to San Fernando St., left San Fernando to 4th St., and right 4th St. to San Salvador. Left San Salvador to 7th St., and left into garage. The Event Center is on the right.
PARKING AT SJSU EVENT CENTER
The Event Center is located on the SJSU campus at the end of 7th Street across from the 7th Street Parking Garage. Parking is available at the 7th Street Garage at the upper levels above the permit parking stall levels for a fee ($8.00) paid at the machine if an attendant is unavailable. Free parking is located at the 4th Street and San Fernando Street Garage approximately 2 blocks from the venue.
Referee Clinic
The Referee Clinic and written test will be at the SJSU Event Center, aerobics room, on Saturday, February 15, 2020 injunction with the tournament on Sunday, February 16. Contact Vaughn Imada at vpimada@aol.com if you have questions regarding National, Regional and/or Local Referee testing.
The chief referee for the 2020 “Sensei Memorial” will be Calvin Terada. The evaluators will be Dan Israel and Mark Hirota. Mr. Terada and Mr. Hirota will be in Doha, Qatar the week of January 13, to attend the 2020 International Judo Federation Referee and Coach Seminar. They will present the information they receive from the seminar at the referee clinic on February 15.
Referee Clinic 1:00 P.M. – 3:00 P.M. ($20 payable to USA Judo). New IJF contest rules as adopted by USA Judo discussed. Referees attending the clinic must be dressed in referee attire.
National, Regional and Local Referee Candidate written test 3:00 P.M. – 4:00 P.M, or soon after referee clinic.
ACCOMMODATION
Special rooms rates available for the weekend of February 14, 15 and 16 for the San Jose Buddhist “Sensei Memorial” Judo Tournament.
Note: The deadline for a special rate of $109 per day is January 21.
